Horse Shows Update

Royal Haven Farm has already attended a number of horse shows and events for this year. We started off the year going to the All Breed Stallion Parade in Rancho Murieta in January. In February, Tamara went to Texas to visit Theresa Bunney and see what all the hype is about that state. Boogie is doing fine, but we still miss him in California. A group of us, including Tamara, Dee, Lori, April, Cassie, Anne and Kim, got a couple of booths at the Loomis Tack Sale. March was the actual start of our show season. We went to Red Bluff with Quiz, Soleil, Rene and Kayla to compete in their schooling show. This was the first show for Quiz and Soleil under saddle. Soleil had only been under saddle less than a month. Tamara was thrilled with the way the babies behaved. We didn’t bring home much in the way of ribbons, but we were there to school. We also participated in the Bok Kai parade in Marysville, winning the Best Use of Floral award. This was a challenge as Lilly was pulling the cart and there were a lot of fire crackers. Dee and Tamara held on for dear life as Raina and Rocky kept out of the way. John and Eric were great in carrying the banner to announce Royal Haven Farm. The end of March saw Tamara, Lori and Dee headed off to Santa Rosa for the GGAHA Arabian Horse Show. Quiz went Champion Half Arabian Sport Horse. Dee got Champion Sport Horse under Saddle, ATR. Raz had melt downs and Sunny did well after being out of the showring for 10 years. Soleil was amazing and Tamara was thrilled with actually getting enough points to qualify for Regionals. We had a lot of fun and were surprised when Michael came down to say Hi after being gone almost a month in Patagonia. April started off with the MLAHA Fuzzy Wuzzy schooling show in Loomis. Carey rode Floppo and Tamara had a blast on Cash. Quiz did quite well in the halter ring. Sunny also had fun. Then Tamara, Lori and Dee went to the AHANC Arabian Show in Rancho Murieta. We took Raz, Quiz, Rene and Soleil. Raz did great over fences considering he hadn’t been jumped in 6 months due to leg injuries and scored some 60+% Dressage scores.. Quiz rode his first Dressage tests. Rene did awesome in Sport Horse in Hand. Soleil went Reserve Champion HA Sport Horse in Hand. It was a tiring show but a lot of fun with Lori, as we knew this was her last show before moving to Louisiana. The weekend after that Tamara and Brielle went to the Panoshe Dressage Schooling Show. Brielle and Abaraham had great rides and Quiz went high score of the show! May brought the DAHA Arabian show and 100+ degree weather. Tamara took Raz for the Regional Hunter over Fences classes but didn’t bring home any ribbons. Torero, Duchess’s 1 year old, Half Andalusian stud colt debuted in Sport Horse in Hand, winning his ATR class with Eddie at the lead. It was Eddie’s first horse show ever and he got thrown into the fire! Quiz did well in Dressage, qualifying for Regionals and Raz went 4th out of 14 in hand with Amanda Cesar. Unfortunately the brutal temperatures took there toll on all the horses and left Tamara quite sick. The end of May saw Quiz and Torero headed to the CNASHA Arabian Sport Horse Classic in Sloughhouse. Both horses were very naughty and very herd bound. Quiz did win his first undersaddle class and had a great performance winning Reserve Champion HA Sport Horse under Saddle, Jr. Horse. Now it is on to June. We are headed to Pacific Slopes in Santa Rosa with Raz, Quiz and Rene. Also we have a couple of newbie kids lead lining in the Nevada County Fair. Will keep you posted!

Canadian Nationals Arabian & Half Arabian Championship

The Royal Red Horse Show was held in Canada from August 20 to August 25, 2007. The show was a lot of fun and work. It started off with problems, when the truck broke down 30 miles from home. After a lot of blessings from God we were able to finally get on the road 9 hours late. This set the stage for lack of sleep the whole trip. We were very blessed in the fact that any mishap that happened could be fixed. I hauled Dee Dee Kramer’s horses, Orion, Penny and Prairie up to Canada and we stabled together. That was a lot of fun as Dee Dee is laid back and always has a funny story to tell. Her clients, Jordan Aboud and Kelly Davis were great too. [Read more →]

Farewell Party for Theresa

The girls - Dee, Tamara, and Theresa

Royal Haven Farm held a surprise farewell party for Theresa on Sunday, August 12. Those in attendance enjoyed a potluck lunch and sharing memories of their time with Theresa. Theresa spent time opening her farewell presents from Dee, Tamara, Pam, Linda and the Lanes. The highlight of her girfts was a scrapbook of memories contributed to by different people who had been touched by having Theresa in their lives. She will be greatly missed as she moves to Texas. We all hope to be in touch with her frequently and Tamara has plans to try to get to Texas to give clinics and visit.  Be sure to see a few of our party pictures.
